Painted in my youth, this piece carries the kind of naive and blind optimism that is hard to recreate once you’re older. I had just moved to a new town and started at a new school, and everything around me felt unfamiliar in a safe way. The soft blues and layered florals reflect the way I saw the world then, it was open, bright, and full of possibility. Made with thick acrylic brushstrokes and scattered silver leaf this piece is textured and has an almost shimmering quality, like a memory catching light. Bits of my younger self, frozen in time.
