The heavy black brushstrokes in this piece overlap and fold into each other until the painting starts to feel crowded. Softer white forms interrupt the darker areas, but never fully separate from them. I think the title came from realizing loneliness is usually less isolating than people pretend it is. Most people are carrying some version of it around quietly.
